Depart London Heathrow with the overnight British Airways flight to Buenos Aires, with a touchdown in Sao Paulo.Day 2 – Buenos Aires
Morning arrival transfer to the Alvear Palace Hotel, the classic ‘grande dame’ of Latin American hotels. Afternoon introduction to the ‘Paris of Latin America’, taking in the highlights of the Teatro Colon Opera House, Palermo Chico and Palermo Soho and the Recoleta cemetery. Day 3 - Buenos Aires
Today, enjoy a chronological experience, starting with the historical areas of Buenos Aires and tracing the history that shaped this amazing city. Start at La Boca, the tough port area of Italian immigration and home to football giants Boca Juniors, and move on to colonial San Telmo, with its famous cobbled streets and legendary antique shops. Continue to the Plaza de Mayo and Casa Rosadal, before enjoying a brief underground ride and finishing with pastries and coffee at the classic Café Tortoni.Day 4 – Buenos AiresDay at leisure to enjoy this fascinating city. Options include a day trip by hydrofoil to Colonia del Sacramento,situated just across the River Plate in Uruguay, a visit to the workshop of legendary silversmith Daniel Pallarols in San Telmo, the services of a personal shopper for the day to enjoy the ‘shoppers paradise’ that is Buenos Aires, or take a tango class from Tony Award Winners Mayoral and Elsa María.Day 5 – Buenos Aires/El Calafate
Morning flight to El Calafate, the gateway to the stunning, yet wild, Los Glaciares National Park, deep in the heart of Patagonia. Three nights at Hosteria Los Notros, with stunning views over Lago Argentino. Day 6 – El Calafate
Enjoy a breathtaking tour to Perito Moreno Glacier, a highlight on anyone’s visit to Argentina. A boat trip takes you close to the 180-foot high and three-mile wide ice wall, whilst an easy glacier trek with crampons actually allows you onto the 20-mile long glacier. Periodically you will hear the thunderous sound of ice breaking from the glacier plunging into the lake below.Day 7 – El Calafate
Full day at leisure. Option to enjoy a full day aboard the Upsala Explorer. Cruise up Lago Argentino, passing icebergs of different shapes and sizes and marvel at Upsala Glacier, the largest in South America covering an area of 500 square miles.Day 8 – El Calafate/Bariloche
Morning flight to Bariloche, considered Argentina’s ‘Little Switzerland’ and a region with strong ties and similarities to alpine Europe. Three nights at Llao Llao Hotel located in beautiful Nahuel Huapi National Park.Day 9 – Bariloche
Morning excursion to visit Bariloche and surrounding area of beautiful mountains and crystal clear lakes. Views from the top of Cerro Campanario, accessed by chairlift, are particularly spectacular. Depart Bariloche for the flight to Buenos Aires and on to Iguazu. Afternoon at leisure to enjoy Iguazu National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site and home to one of the world's largest and most impressive waterfalls, extending over some 2,700 metres. The falls are within easy walking distance from your hotel. Two nights at the Hotel Sheraton International Iguazu, Falls View Room.Day 12 – Iguazu
Morning tour of the falls from Argentina, including a train shuttle to the impressive ‘Devil’s Throat’. Paths surrounded by tropical plants, butterflies and birds lead along and the above the spectacular falls. Afternoon at leisure.Day 13 – Iguazu/Buenos Aires
Morning tour to the Brazilian side of the falls including a walkway that brings you within arms reach of the thundering cascades. Afternoon transfer to the airport for the flight to Buenos Aires. Say farewell to Argentina at Esquina Carlos Gardel’s tango show, a revival of the tango sophistication, luxury and style of ‘The Golden Decade of Buenos Aires’. Day 14 - Buenos Aires/London
