Day 1 - Cusco/Lake TiticacaDepart from Cusco by train to Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world. The train journey is breathtaking; being dominated primarily by the magnificent Andes Mountains before reaching the gentler, rolling Andean plains and shores of Lake Titicaca, where vicuña and alpaca are often seen. Sightseeing on board the train is facilitated by a glass-walled observation car. Overnight at the Libertador Puno Hotel overlooking Lake Titicaca.Day 2 - Puno/La Paz
Morning departure by shared coach for a three-hour journey along the edge of Lake Titicaca to the town of Copacabana, Bolivia’s most important religious sanctuary. Enjoy a brief visit to the interesting Cathedral and Main Square before boarding the hydrofoil to cross the lake. En route there is a visit to Sun Island, so called because the Incas believed it to be the sun’s birthplace. On arrival at the port of Huatajata, continue by road to La Paz, the highest capital city in the world and often referred to as the ‘the city that touches the sky’. Two nights at the Europa Hotel.Day 3 - Tiwanacu
Morning visit to Tiwanacu, considered to be ‘the Cradle of American Civilisations’ and a fascinating collection of monoliths, pyramids, gateways and temples high on the Andean altiplano. Afternoon guided tour of La Paz, ‘the city of contrasts’. Visit the Cathedral, the historical Plaza Murillo, the Basilica of San Francisco built in 1549, the Valley of the Moon and the Witches Market where good luck with money, love and health are all on sale. Day 4 - La Paz/Lima or Brazil
