Arusha (1nt) - Katavi (3nts)
Katavi is a great extension to any Tanzanian itinerary, the following example starts and finishes in Arusha.Day 1 - Arusha
Arrive into Arusha and transfer to Arusha Coffee Lodge for the night.Day 2 - Arusha/Katavi
Transfer by light aircraft from Arusha to Katavi. Your light aircraft takes you to the very remote Katavi where your camp looks out over the Chada plain. Completely off the beaten track, Katavi National Park is in the western area of Tanzania. The flood plains are home to hippo and birds whilst the seasonal lakes attract wildlife in abundance. Accommodation for the next three nights will be at Chada Katavi offering panoramic views over the Chada Plain.Days 3 to 4 - Katavi
Allow two full days to explore this remote region. The floor of the Rukwa Valley, a minor fault in the Great Rift Valley, hides a variety of habitats home to buffalo, elephants and hippo- filled rivers. The ideal way of seeing Katavi is onfoot. During the walking safaris you may be fortunate to see the rare roan and sable antelope. At the end of the day relive your day’s experiences around the camp fire. Katavi is truly a remote and private experience.Day 5 - Katavi/Arusha
Sadly time to depart this remote and very special area. Return by light aircraft to Arusha. You may wish to extend your stay with a few days on the beaches of Zanzibar.
