FAMOUS MONUMENT: Fryderyk Chopin under Crying Willow, Lazienki Park, Warsaw
Poland is one of the freshest communities to emerge from the shadows of communism.
Warsaw is a dynamic city that blends the influences of the West with their trading partners in central Asia, a cosmopolitan and resilient society with a hardy cheerfulness that is hard to equal and a deep sense of history and its cultural worth.
For centuries, Poland has been a bridge between the East and West. Set in the heart of Europe, and the largest of the former Eastern European states, its beauty can be admired in both its old cities and in the wild scenery of its national parks and nature reserves. Perhaps more widely known for its infamous town of Auschwitz, location of the death camp for Jews during the World War, this haunting and very moving location is worthy of a visit.
Warsaw - the Old Town is a spectacular destination, destroyed by the Nazis but reconstructed by the local peoples in the 1950s. Take a horse drawn carriage and discover the Royal Castle and the Stare Miasto. Krakow also has many towers, facades and ancient churches to explore, by night enjoy many theatres staging music and opera performances.
